Inaugurated in Bangalore, at the SabhaBlr cultural centre, the photographic exhibition 'Bangalore, In Between', an exploration of the city commissioned by Consul General Alfonso Tagliaferri to Italian photographer Martin Mae.
The exhibition, divided into three sections, responds to an original challenge: to portray India's IT capital city, showing its essence but eschewing the overused stereotypes that have become synonymous with the country. The photographer, known for her work exploring themes of belonging, memory, sea-related identity, and the relationships between the land and individuals, chose to stop her lens on old building facades, car parks in hidden corners, trees, deserted stretches of road, bus stops. "They are seemingly insignificant glimpses, but they reveal the beauty that surrounds us," says the photographer. The opening was preceded by a conversation between Consul Tagliaferri, the photographer and architect Naresh Narasimhan.
