In Brazil, the Consulate General of Italy in Porto Alegre launched an important institutional mission in Rio Grande do Sul together with the vice-president of FederUnacoma (National Federation of Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers), Fabio Ricci. The initiative, promoted by Consul General Valerio Caruso, aims to foster cooperation and partnerships between Italy and the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the agricultural sector.
The programme, which runs from 24 to 27 April, includes stops in the cities of Porto Alegre, Caxias do Sul, Carlos Barbosa and Bento Gonçalves. The visit, initially planned for 2024 but postponed due to the floods, was enthusiastically welcomed by local institutions and businesspeople.
'Vice-President Ricci's presence represents a concrete opportunity to strengthen economic and agricultural ties between Italy and Rio Grande do Sul,' said Caruso, emphasising the strategic importance of 2025 for the resumption of the Italian Chamber of Commerce's activities and for negotiations on the Porto Alegre-Rome direct flight.
The programme includes meetings with local authorities, a visit to the Tramontina company in Carlos Barbosa, meetings with Farsul, and visits to important local wineries.
"It is a great honour to be here. Rio Grande do Sul is a region of agricultural excellence and this visit is a fundamental step in the development of new forms of collaboration,' Ricci said.
