The Ambassador of Italy to Israel, Luca Ferrari, participated in the solemn annual ceremony of Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the presence of the Israeli President, Isaac Herzog, the Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, and all the highest civil and military offices of the State of Israel at the Holocaust Memorial in Jerusalem.
Ambassador Ferrari commented on the occasion, addressing a thought of respect and emotion in honour of the memory of 6 million Jewish victims of the Holocaust. "Every effort must be made so that the tragedy of the Shoah is not repeated. Never again cannot be just words but must be translated into daily commitment. The remembrance and recognition of what was an abyss of humanity is still denied today by those who feed dangerous spirals of anti-Semitism,' Ferrari said. "It is of fundamental importance," concluded the Ambassador, "to turn our gaze to the education of the new generations so that, as the Holocaust inevitably recedes in time, the memory remains steadfast, preventing feelings of hatred and denialism from taking over".
