The ninth edition of Italian Design Day will be celebrated in Mexico City on 25 February 2025 under the title 'Inequalities. Design for a better life'.
Since its first edition, the event has aimed to strengthen the connotation of design as a distinctive element of Made in Italy and to contribute to the opportunities for designers and companies to enter and expand in international markets.
The Italian Design Day, promoted and organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, sees the participation of the Association for Industrial Design (Adi), the Fondazione Adi collezione compasso d'oro, Ice - Agency, the Milan Furniture Fair and Triennale, FederlegnoArredo, the Fondazione Altagamma and Confindustria. The aim is to involve the main public and private players representing quality Italian design and the business world.
The Mexico City event, which will be held at the Italian Institute of Culture, will be opened by Ambassador Alessandro Modiano.
The ambassador of Italian design on Aztec soil this year will be Marva Griffin Wilshire, a leading international figure, founder and curator of SaloneSatellite, an annual exhibition held during the Milan Furniture Fair.
The exhibition focuses on young and emerging designers, who in the past launched the careers of many now established designers.
Griffin will talk with three design and architecture professionals who have participated in SaloneSatellite: Andrés Lhima, Ramses Viazcan and Miguel Ángel Jiménez. The debate will be moderated by Mexican journalist Greta Arcila.
