The Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan, Marilina Armellin, was received today by the Governor of Punjab, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan. The meeting, which took place on the occasion of the Ambassador's trip to Lahore to attend the prestigious Literary Festival, was an opportunity to discuss the main issues of cooperation between Pakistan's most populous Province (128 million inhabitants) and Italy. The Ambassador and the Governor also appreciated the substantial contribution of the hard-working Pakistani community in Italy, the largest in the European Union, and agreed that it is necessary to continue to protect the flows from all forms of trafficking and exploitation, including through the intensification of legal channels of migration. The two interlocutors also discussed the development cooperation projects financed by Italy in Punjab. In particular, they appreciated the success of projects in the dairy and olive-growing sectors and also explored further forms of bilateral trade cooperation in these fields.
