A photographic tribute to the masters of the Compasso d'Oro, the world's oldest design award. This is the exhibition opening on 12 February in St Petersburg, organised on the occasion of the 9th edition of the Day of Italian Design in the World by the Italian Consulate General together with the Italian Cultural Institute of St Petersburg.
"Career Photography", is a historical exhibition that intends to pay homage to the link between photography and design, presenting a selection of 48 images related to the awards received by designers, companies and institutions from 2000 to the present day. The exhibition celebrates the masters of the Compasso d'Oro Career Prize, reinterpreted through the lens of Italian photographers.
Established in 1954, the Prize was the brainchild of Gio Ponti to highlight the value and quality of Italian design products in its early days. Since 1958, it has been managed by Adi (Association for Industrial Design).
The Compasso d'Oro alla Carriera is an award given to personalities, companies and organisations that have distinguished themselves in the field of design for merits in planning, research, teaching, production or distribution. The more than 350 projects awarded in the seventy years of the Award, together with the almost two thousand selected with the Honourable Mention, are collected and kept in the Historical Collection of the Adi Compasso d'Oro Award.
The exhibition will be open from 12 February to 3 March at the Bulthaup Gallery.
