Bilateral meetings in Kampala with members of the government for the Italian Ambassador to Uganda, Mauro Massoni. The diplomat met with Uganda's Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Tom Butime, in recent days to discuss major environmental initiatives, including the inclusion of Mount Moroto in the Unesco list of Biosphere Reserves.
Discussions also covered the Bugoma forest and the importance of its conservation for tourism and sustainable development purposes. "Italy remains a committed partner in safeguarding Uganda's rich biodiversity for future generations," Massoni said at the end of the meeting.
Yesterday, the ambassador, together with the director of the Kampala office of the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS), Teresa Savanella, also met with the Minister of Agriculture, Fred Bwino, with whom he discussed issues concerning the coffee supply chain and the creation of the 'Coffee capacity building centre', a mechanisation centre for the processing and transformation of the product in Uganda.
