A delegation from the Italian Iveco group, led by the regional director for North Africa and the Middle East, Carmelo Impelluso, and in the presence of the Italian ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo, met with the Algerian Industry Minister, Ali Aoun, to present a project for the production of medium and heavy commercial vehicles in the North African country. The announcement was made by the Algerian Industry Ministry on its social media.
"The Italian partner, which has initiated the procedures for the construction of the plant with the Algerian partner, presented the policy followed by the Iveco group for the production of vehicles, which is based on meeting the needs of the Algerian market in the first phase, and then moving on to export in the second phase," the statement read.
During the meeting, the Algerian minister praised the 'bilateral relations between Algeria and Italy', emphasising 'the need to develop a real automotive industry based on the mobilisation of local subcontractors and the need to meet the specifications to obtain accreditation to start this activity as soon as possible'.
