The Contemporary Italian Film Festival 'Italian Screens' returns to Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The initiative, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Ministry of Culture and organised by Cinecittà, takes place from 27 to 29 September and includes the screening of four films in Italian with English subtitles: Il primo giorno della mia vita by Paolo Genovese, Romeo is Giulietta by Giovanni Veronesi, Confidenza by Daniele Luchetti, and Il sol dell'avvenire by Nanni Moretti.
After the success of the first edition of the festival, the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria, the Italian Embassy, the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg and the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town worked on the organisation of a second edition of the festival.
Roberto Stabile, Head of the Italian Screens Project, will be present at the opening of the festival in Cape Town to present to local operators the best that the Italian audiovisual system has to offer in order to encourage co-productions, the growth of the professional quality of our industry and the internationalisation of our cinema.
The event is also an important networking opportunity to allow industry professionals to get in touch with those who can best illustrate the programme of incentives at national and regional level to support production for those filming in Italy.
The initiative, explains the Italian Embassy in Pretoria, is part of a broader project to deepen cultural relations between Italy and South Africa, organised by Cinecittà to promote opportunities for producers and distributors from both countries.
