The Italian Embassy in Washington yesterday hosted a gala evening to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Leadership Council for Women in National Security (Lcwins), a bipartisan US association committed to advancing gender equality in the field of national security. Guest of honour was the Deputy Secretary of Defence, Kathleen Hicks. Also present were former Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the first Republican woman elected for Florida in Congress.
More than 200 invited guests attended the event, including high-level representatives from the State and Defence Departments, the White House and the intelligence community, and industry groups active in national security-related fields.
