Presenter Carlo Conti will be the new
artistic director and presenter of the Sanremo Italian Song
Festival for the next two years, Rai state broadcaster announced
Wednesday.
Florence-born Conti, 63, takes over from Ravenna-born Amadeus,
61, who stepped down after five highly successful years after
this year's edition of the muich-loved TV jamboree and song
contest.
"Conti will be at the helm of the most important national
multimedia event organised by Rai and the Municipality of
Sanremo," said Rai.
The perma-tanned Tuscan presenter has hosted some of Rai's most
popular shows over the years.
