Italy's much-loved Sanremo Song Festival continued to do well on its fourth and penultimate night on Friday, attracting an average of 11.893 million viewers, a record 67.8% of the TV audience.
It is the highest audience share for a Friday that the festival has registered since the Auditel committee started compiling the viewer data in 1987.
Geolier came top of the standings on the fourth night, dedicated to covers, with a medley featuring Guè, Luchè and Gigi D'Alessio.
The rapper's victory in the night was greeted by boos in the Ligurian city's Ariston theatre.
As expected, on Friday presenter Amadeus read out a statement by farmers staging tractors protests in Sanremo, Rome and other areas of Italy as part of Europe-wide demonstrations.
The message stressed that the farmers were not seeking additional subsidies or handouts, but measures to make sure they get a fair price for their produce, saying their revenues often do not cover their production costs at the moment.
Excitement is high for the final night later on Saturday, when all 30 artists in competition will perform their songs again and the winner will be announced.
The victor gets to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest.
