For the première of Giuseppe Verdi's
Don Carlo at Teatro La Scala, which opens the opera season at
the prestigious Milan theatre on Thursday, Milan Mayor Giuseppe
Sala and Senate Speaker Ignazio La Russa will be seated not in
the royal box but rather in the stalls near Life Senator Liliana
Segre, sources said on Wednesday.
Other prominent people due to attend the opening night conducted
by Riccardo Chailly are American singer-songwriter Patti Smith,
director of the Paris Opera Alexandre Neef, Deputy Premier and
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, Culture Minister Gennaro
Sangiuliano, Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Giuseppe Cavo
Dragone and Lombardy Governor Attilio Fontana.
