An Umbrian artisan is making a copy
of a Signorelli masterpiece for the coronation of Britain's
Charles III.
Stefano Lazzari, of Città di Castello, the small town that also
houses iconic masterpieces by Signorelli's teacher Piero della
Francesca, said he is "happy" to make one of the gifts for the
May 6 ceremony in London.
The present will be an exact copy of Luca Signorelli's Martyrdom
of St Sebastian (1498), held in the municipal picture gallery in
the Umbrian town.
"The work will be realized in oil pictographics on a 1:1 format
with colours and recipes used by Luca Signorelli to finish the
original," said Lazzari and his sister Francesca, who own the
Bottega Tifernate workshop and art store.
