Power and the abuse of power is valid
for all genders, Cate Blanchett said Thursday in presenting at
the Venice Film Festival her latest film, Todd Field's TÁR, in
which she plays a famed German orchestra conductor and composer
who is guilty of sexual abuse and is accused in a #MeToo moment.
The double Oscar winner, 53, said that not only men, but also
women, when they have power, sometimes use it to get sexual
favours.
"I never considered the LGBT aspect of the film, but certainly
my Lydia likes women," said the Australian star at the Lido.
"But I firmly believe that homogeneity of gender is not
important in the art world, on the contrary, it's the death of
it.
"In other words, I have never thought about the gender, the
sexuality, of Lydia.
"This film is the very human portrait of a person with all her
weaknesses".
