Film directors Paolo Sorrentino,
fellow Neapolitan Mario Martone and veteran auteur Marco
Bellocchio won top awards at Italy's annual Silver Ribbons
Prizes awarded by the national film press.
Bellocchio's Marx può aspettare (Marx Can Wait) was voted film
of the year, while Sorrentino's E' stata la mano di dio (The
Hand of God) got the Best Film 2022 Award.
Sorrentino's autobiographical coming of age tale set in Diego
Maradona's Naples for six ribbons in all, including for leading
actresses Teresa Saponangelo and Luisa Ranieri.
Martone won for best director and with Ippolita Di Majo snagged
the best screenplay award for two films, Nostalgia and Qui rido
io.
Riboons also went to the leads and supporting actors of
Nostalgia, Pierfrancesco Favino, Francesco Di Leva and
Tommaso Ragno.
The awards will be presented Monday night at Rome's MAXXI
contemporary art museum.
