L'Envol (Flight), the latest film by
45-year-old Caserta born Italian filmmaker Pietro Marcello, is
to open the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs section of the Cannes
Film Festival on May 18-27, organizers said Friday.
Loosely adapted from Russian pacifist writer Aleksandr Grin's
novel The Scarlet Sails, Marcello's first film shot in France is
a historic, musical and working class tale bordering on magic
realism, producers say.
The cast includes Juliette Jouan, a young actres on her cinema
debut, Raphaël Thierry, Louis Garrel, Noémie Lvovsky, Ernst
Umhauer, François Négret, and Yolande Moreau.
