Alberto Sironi, the director of the hit Inspector Montalbano TV series, has died at the age of 79.
His death comes less than a month after that of Andrea
Camilleri, the much-loved author of the best-selling novels the
series is based on.
It was Sironi's decision to cast Luca Zingaretti as Salvo
Montalbano, the police chief of fictional Sicilian town of
"Vigàta".
