The 46th Giffoni Film Festival will
offer up a free concert series based on the 'Made in Campania'
theme, featuring music from the region where the festival is to
be held July 15-24.
Giffoni Director Claudio Gubitosi said the music highlights
the region's musical history and its Mediterranean culture, and
that the festival is "open as always to all art forms and
creative languages that speak straight to the heart of
children".
The concerts - one for each day of the festival - will be
hosted by journalist and blogger Anna Trieste, starting at 22:00
on the stage in Piazza Lumiere.
They will feature established performers such as Enzo
Gragnaniello, Niccolò Agliari, Eugenio Bennato, Almamegretta,
and Enzo Avitabile & I Bottari, as well as promising new talents
like Urban Strangers, Andrea d'Alessio, The Shak&Speares, Lelio
Morra and Ciuffi Rossi.
One evening will be entirely dedicated to "Gomorra Sound",
based on the soundtrack to the TV series Gomorra, performed by
Mokadelic, NTO' & Lucariello.
The series kicks off with a performance of the musical
Hairspray by students of Salerno's Caracciolo Junior Music
School.
World music will be represented by Algerian-Neapolitan
singer and actress M'Barka Ben Taleb, and Kazakh-Salernitan
singer-songwriter Son Pascal.
As part of the Campania Sound Experience, singer and
drummer Tullio De Piscopo will receive a lifetime achievement
award for his 50-year career.
