Visitors to the Colosseum soon
will be able to enjoy automated drinking water distributors and
a cafeteria inside the Flavian amphitheatre, newly appointed
Rome archeology superintendent Francis Prosperetti told Art
Tribune magazine in an interview Friday.
Prosperetti, who is superintendant since February,
discussed ways of financing further restoration of Rome's
monuments by taking advantage of the six million tourists who
visit the Colosseum each year.
"We must work on ticketing, on membership, on time, on
queues, on fundraising which can also be crowdfunding, given the
number of contacts that we have," he explained.
"The British Museum makes a lot of money and provides
quality service," he pointed out.
The aim is to attract larger crowds by linking up with the
contemporary art and theater world, such as a new Henry Moore
show opening at the Baths of Diocletian, he said.
