(ANSAmed) - MILAN, JULY 13 - Sicily is a protagonist of Milan Expo 2015. In the Piazzetta Sicilia square and in the area the region has set up within the Italian pavilion for the week dedicated to Sicily, a round of events have been scheduled.
After a public debate between participants and actor Angelo Russo, the popular Catarella in the 'Commissario Montalbano' television mystery series, and with the show's filmmaker, Alberto Sironi, a round of "Sicilian" events have been scheduled for the Expo public until July 16.
Events will star, among others, theater actor Sebastiano Lomonaco, who has debuted with colleagues Salvo Randone, Adriana Asti and Annamaria Guarnieri; the Canunovu, a musical band with the objective of rediscovering Sicilian fold music and 'infiorata', a painting technique which uses flowers instead of colors and brushes.
Every day one of the main boulevards of the world's fair, the Cardo, will host the flag-wavers of the Sicilian Baroque parade, dressed in traditional costumes with actors and musicians. They will star in a performance dating back to the Middle Ages, the real Maestranza, created as a town militia to defend Caltanissetta in case it was invaded by the Sarances. (ANSAmed)
