Tuscan regional authorities on Tuesday presented a project to showcase 20th-century artistic production in the region.
The initiative running from June 13 to December 31 sees the participation of 108 museums in a programme of exhibitions and events featuring works by almost 450 artists linked to the central Italian region, including Carla Accardi, Jannis Kounellis, Pino Pascali, Daniel Spoerri and Alighiero Boetti.
It comes under the auspices of the programme Piccoli Grandi Musei (Great Little Museums) launched in collaboration with local bank Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze to valorise the regional artistic heritage. Some 22 participating museums will be open at weekends over the course of the initiative with educational activities, workshops for families and free guided tours, and visitors will also have access to a guidebook and smartphone app available in four languages. photo: Boetti, Mimetic (1966)
