Two British tourists and an Israeli
national were the victims of Thursday's cable-car crash at
Castellamare di Stabia, near Naples, along with the cable-car's
Italian operator, Naples Mayor Gaetano Manfredi has said.
A fifth person, reportedly an Israeli, is in hospital in Naples
in a critical condition after being injured in the crash.
Prosecutors have opening a criminal investigation into accident
in the cable-car connecting the seaside town of Castellamare di
Stabia to Mount Faito.
The victims were in a cabin that plunged to the ground,
apparently after one of the cables it was on snapped.
Premier Giorgia Meloni expressed "the most heartfelt condolences
to the families of the victims".
