A 46-year-old woman was murdered in
her flat in Udine Thursday and police said they had suspicions
about her ex husband who was killed in a full-on collision with
a truck, a possible suicide, near the northeastern Italian city
shortly afterwards, judicial sources said.
The man had been under house arrest and a restraining order had
been served against him because of past violence against his ex
wife.
He died at Basiliano in Udine province after crashing into a
heavy goods lorry.
Police said he had either been fleeing or deliberately drove
into the truck to kill himself.
It is just the latest in a long and alarming spate of femicides
in Italy.
