Business and Made in Italy Minister
Adolfo Urso on Wednesday called for a new industrial policy to
promote competitiveness, saying the European Union needed to
take action to protect businesses against tariffs in a note
issued on the sidelines of an EU Competitiveness Council in
Brussels on Wednesday.
"Defending ourselves commercially is not enough.
"A new industrial policy is necessary to give back
competitiveness to our companies", Urso said in the note
released on the sidelines of the Council, which also provided
the occasion for several bilateral meetings with the ministers
of Poland, Austria and Romania.
For this reason, "Italy has outlined to Europe a road to
reforms, to be carried out immediately, with a clear strategic
vision", also said the note.
