Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara
said Tuesday that Italians can't forget the responsibility of
the Fascist regime in the Holoucaust, addressing a ceremony at
the presidential Quirinale palace in Rome to mark Holocaust
Remembrance Day.
"We Italians cannot forget the responsibility of the Fascist
regime's collaborationism in the extermination of Jews", noted
the education minister urging to cultivate a "lively, vigilant
and actual memory".
Some 40,000 Jews have left Europe over the past few years due to
rising anti-Semitism and "Memory also means monitoring the
present" so atrocities such as the Holocaust "will never happen
again", said Valditara.
