The 62-year-old German truck driver
who ran over and killed former cycling champion Davide Rebellin
near Vicenza last November was extradited to Italy on Friday.
Wolfgang Rieke was handed over to Carabinieri police at the
Brenner Pass on the border with Austria, according to Vicenza
public prosecutor Lino Giorgio Bruno.
He will now stand trial in Italy on charges of vehicular
homicide and hit-and-run for allegedly killing Rebellin after
hitting him with the articulated lorry he was driving on a
roundabout in Montebello Vicentino on November 30, 2022.
Rebellin, 51, was one of Italy's top riders in the 1990s.
