Italy's school teachers are to strike
May 30 against the government's recent decree on recruitment
that allegedly lengthens procedures for qualifying as a teacher,
trade unions said Monday.
The unions - CGIL, CISL, UIL, SNALS and GILDA - said last week
the decree raises to five the number of procedures school
teachers require to qualify, compared to just two for university
lecturers.
The decree will also cost them an average 2,500 euros over 10
years due to a cut in their 'cards' for professional purchases,
the union said.
