The 'father' of the much-loved
Cicciobello doll Silvestro Bellini has died at the age of 87,
L'Eco di Bergamo daily reported Tuesday.
Bellini designed the first Cicciobello life-size doll for
Sebino doll maker in 1962, before the brand now owned by Giochi
Preziosi of Cogliate in Brianza became a global success.
"I drew my inspiration from the face of a newborn baby from
Bergamo," he told L'Eco in an interview some time ago.
Bellini trained at the Carrara academy in Bergamo and also
worked as a designer in the United States and Austria.
