Italian designers on Monday
feted their success at Sunday's Academy Awards ceremony in Los
Angeles, having dressed many of the prizewinners there.
Italian music great Ennio Morricone, who won the best
original score Oscar for his work for Quentin Tarantino's The
Hateful Eight, and his wife Maria - to whom he dedicated the
award - were both wearing Dolce and Gabbana.
Leonardo DiCaprio, winner of the best actor award for his
performance in The Revenant, was sporting a fitted tuxedo
designed by Giorgio Armani, who always dresses the American star
on formal occasions.
"Thank goodness Leonardo DiCaprio won the Oscar and thank
goodness he was wearing Armani," joked Armani after a show in
Milan on Monday.
"But Cate Blanchett also looked good, no?" he added in
reference to the nominee for best actress in a leading role for
her part in Carol.
She was wearing a green dress designed by the Italian
fashion veteran.
Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, best director for The
Revenant, Tom McCarthy, best original screenplay for Spotlight,
and Emmanuel Lubezki, best photography for Revenat, all donned
the Prada label.
