The board of RAI State
broadcaster on Thursday approved three new channel heads: for
Raiuno Andrea Fabiano, for Raidue Ilaria Dallatana; and for
Raitre Daria Bignardi. The latter pair are the first female
channel heads in RAI's history. Here's some background about the
three:
Andrea Fabiano
Fabiano, at 39, is the youngest person to take the helm of
the flagship Raiuno channel in the broadcaster's history. He has
been working as the vice-director of Raiuno, under Giancarlo
Leone, since February 2015.
Previously he was in charge of Rai's marketing strategy and
new projects. On his Twitter profile he describes himself as
"Bari-born, exported to Rome".
Fabiano graduated in economics and business from the
University of Bari in the southern Italian region of Puglia and
has also studied marketing at Harvard Business School, Italian
media reported.
Ilaria Dallatana
Dallatana gained her experience at Silvio Berlusconi's
Mediaset empire, managing entertainment at the Canale 5 and
Italia 1 channels.
In 2001, she formed TV production company Magnolia, which
runs Masterchef and the 'Celebrity Island' shows in Italy.
She graduated from Milan's Cattolica university and has more
than 20 years' experience in television.
Daria Bignardi
Bignardi comes to Rai from the La7 Channel, where she
presented the "Barbarian Invasions" show.
The journalist and writer has hopped between the different
Italian channels. She worked at Rai until 1994, then also spent
some time at Berlusconi's Mediaset, presenting Big Brother on
Canale 5.
After another brief period at Rai, she returned to La7 in
2010 to relaunch the Barbarian Invasions show she had previously
presented there.
