The Rome mafia clan that sparked
protests by staging a lavish church funeral for their boss in
Rome Thursday have asked for Pope Francis's forgiveness for
using the theme from The Godfather during the ceremony.
"We can ask forgiveness from the pope and the Vatican only
perhaps for having put on a song that was not OK," Vittorio
Casamonica's relatives told the online version of the Corriere
della Sera newspaper.
A band played Nino Rota's famous theme while a helicopter
dropped rose petals onto a horse-drawn carriage carrying
Casamonica's coffin.
