The Blue Fishing and Growth District COSPAV (Sicilian consortium for the enhancement of fish products) is increasingly expanding at an international level and has brought together 12 Mediterranean agri-food businesses for the first time to Tuttofood, an agri-food event organized by Fiere di Parma, May 5-8, at Fiera Milano Rho.
Dozens of commercial meetings were organized in the institutional space with buyers and operators and particular interest was shown by representatives of the Japanese, Chinese, European and US markets, organizers said.
"Our presence at Tuttofood is fundamental to promote the sustainability and the quality of traditional Mediterranean products", said Nino Carlino, the District's president.
"We are proud to not only represent the seafood supply chain but all of Sicily's agri-food thanks to the presence of companies belonging to different production levels.
"We have already planned several activities to implement this policy not only in Italy but also and in particular abroad where there is space and high interest for our products", explained Carlino.
The District is in particular committed to sponsoring sustainability, the blue economy and the quality of products, with particular attention devoted to the promotion of their Mediterranean tradition and internalization, representatives said.
The seafood industry is moreover attracting a new generation of entrepreneurs.
Producers present at the fair this year in fact included many young people aged 19 to 24, second and third-generation entrepreneurs who are taking the help of the family business to prove the value and excellence of their productions.
Tuttofood, which is organized by Fiere di Parma and wraps up Thursday at Fiera Milano Rho, has also represented for the District an occasion to launch new recipes, including those dedicated to blue crab, created by Sicilian chef Valentina Laudonia.
