More than 100 Italian
business executives arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday to
discuss potential projects and investments in a range of sectors
in Argentina.
The mission, led by Italy's Economic Development ministry
under-secretary Ivan Scalfarotto, was due to meet Argentinian
President Mauricio Macri on Tuesday.
The discussions will then begin with a first "introduction
to the market" seminar, which will be attended by Argentine
Production Minister Francisco Cabrera.
Talks will focus in particular on two key sectors:
infrastructure and energy, with a spotlight on renewable energy.
Another significant area of discussion will be the food
industry, in which Argentina is a strong competitor.
Other prominent Italian attendees include the
director-general of the Italian ICE foreign trade commission
Roberto Luongo and the head of development finance for state
holding Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Antonella Baldino.
Companies that will be represented include utility Enel,
rail company Ferrovie dello Stato, defence firm Finmeccanica and
banks including Intesa San Paolo and Ubi Banca.
