Banco Bpm closed the first quarter of
the year with a profit of 511 million euros, the best quarterly
result ever, up 38% on the same period of 2024 and rising to 549
million including the full integration of Anima. The institute,
as stated in a note, has revised upwards the 2025 guidance,
which now estimates a net profit of around 1.95 billion, thanks
to a performance above the strategic plan expectations.
UniCredit last month blasted the conditions the government has
put on approval for the bank's bid
to take over Banco BPM.
UniCredit, Italy's second biggest bank, launched a hostile bid
for BPM, the third biggest, some months ago.
