Italy backs Arab countries' plan for
Middle East peace and the reconstruction of Gaza leading to a
two-state solution, Premier Giorgia Meloni told question time
Wednesday amid Israeli plans to occupy the Strip and displace
its Palestinians.
"In the Middle East we continue to work for the permanent end of
hostilities and we are attentive and support the work that the
Arab countries are carrying out," the premier said.
"The Arab countries are the keystone in the permanent solution
of the conflict. There is a credible reconstruction plan in Gaza
that they have brought forward, and also to outline a general
framework of peace and security, a framework that in our opinion
must also include the two-state perspective".
