Stellantis Chairman John Elkann met
United States President Donald Trump at the White House on
Monday, a spokesperson for the Italian-American-French auto
group said on Tuesday, confirming US media reports.
Among other things, Trump reportedly said that he wanted to
reinstate less stringent emission standards for cars and tariffs
were also discussed along with the issue of the competitiveness
of the American car industry.
Like other US auto executives, Elkann reportedly stressed the
importance of having clarity for the car market.
Stellantis employs around 75,000 people in the United States and
sells around 1.4 million cars a year there for revenue of some
63.5 billion euros.
