The government coalition is moving
forward united on justice reform, Justice Minister Carlo Bordio
told ANSA Friday after his undersecretary Andrea Delmastro
caused a stir by appearing to criticise key aspects of it.
Saying that Delmastro's statements had been subjected to
"journalistic emphasis", Nordio said: "The entire coalition
moves forward united, speeding up the timing of the double
parliamentary reading" on justice reform.
Since it requires Constitutional changes, the reform will be put
to a referendum after approval.
It aims to separate the career paths of judges and prosecutors
so they can no longer switch between the two.
Delmastro also caused controversy in his interview with Il
Foglio by appearing to confirm that the reform aims to put
prosecutors under the control of the executive, a claim which
the governement had hitherto consistently denied.
