The Milan bourse closed 1.38% down Tuesday with the FTSE-Mib index falling to 37,698 points amid Donald Trump's tariff threats on the Canadian steel, aluminum and car sector.
In New York the Dow Jones was 1.25% down, the Nasdaq 0.83% off and the S&P 500 down 1.02% amid the looming trade war.
London closed 1.21% down, Paris 1.31% down, and Frankfurt 1.29% down.The euro rose against the dollar to $1.0927, its highest since last July.
