Chiara Ferragni has been sent to
trial in Milan for alleged fraud over a charity Christmas cake
and a chocolate Easter egg she endorsed, the fashion influencer
and businesswoman's defence team said on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old blogger and designer criticized the decision to
indict her in a statement.
"I honestly believed that it was not necessary to hold a trial
to prove that I never defrauded anyone," Ferragni said.
"Unfortunately, I will have to live with this accusation, which
I consider profoundly unfair, still for some time.
"But I am ready to fight with even greater determination to
prove my absolute innocence".
At the center of the investigation are cases of alleged
misleading advertising linked to the sales, at inflated prices
and disguised as charitable initiatives, which took place
between 2021 and 2022, of a Balocco 'Pink Christmas' Pandoro and
Dolci Preziosi Easter eggs.
In December Ferragni on Saturday donated 200,000 euros to
victims of gender violence in an agreement with consumer group
CODACONS to withdraw its complaint over the charity products.
