Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Italy wants to build positive events after landing in Israel Monday as part of a visit to support Middle East peace after the start of a ceasefire between Tel Aviv and Hamas in Gaza.
"I am in Israel, I will hold important meetings both here and in Palestine to support peace", said Tajani.
"Italy wants to be a constructor of positive events, also from the standpoint of reconstruction, organizing our project Food for Gaza.
"We must look at Gaza's tomorrow so this still weak truce can become stronger and bring stability to the entire Middle East", said Tajani.
Tajani met with Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa'ar and the Palestinian Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Mohammed Mustafa in Ramallah, in the West Bank.
He also met with the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Italian Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa Food for Gaza is an initiative Italy has spearheaded to get food aid to Palestinian civilians, launched last March together with UN agencies WFP and FAO, IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies), and the civil protection.
