Federica Brignone said she was proud of what she did in winning the World Cu Super-G in Cortina d'Ampezzo Sunday a day after coming third in the downhill at the iconic Italian course and extending her Italian women's win record to 31, now only behind the great Alberto Tomba, on 50, on both sexes' lists.
"Today I got exactly what I had in mind. I attacked, I felt fast, I always kept my foot pressed on the accelerator: I had excellent sensations and when at the finish line I saw the advantage over Suter I told myself that it could be the right day. It was a tactical super-G: there was room to let go of the skis, but also to face it intelligently to best manage the high speed. It's one of those days when you say... how beautiful!", said the 34-year-old from Milan, who leads the overall World Cup standings on 639 points, ahead of SWiss Camille Rast on 533.
"I feel proud of what I did this weekend - she added - when you chase a result for a long time, getting it gives great satisfaction. I absolutely wanted to get on the podium in Cortina and these two days are really beautiful for my career.
"Versatility has always been a goal of mine, since I was a child, and to have won in three different disciplines in the same winter is really worth a lot to me.
"The season is going very well, but to continue I have to be able to continue skiing like this, I know it won't be easy to do it all the time. Precisely for this reason I don't want to think about the ranking, for now; I prefer to think about each individual race".
