Italy's Enzo Maresca was named Chelsea
coach Monday replacing Argentinian Mauricio Pochettino who led
the Blues for a year after spending the same term at PSG.
Maresca, 44, a former Juve and Italy under-21 midfielder who
served as assistant coach under Pep Guardiola at Man City, has
just led Leicester City back to the Premier League.
The former Parma coach and ex-Verona, Samp, Fiorentina, Sevilla,
Olimpiacos, Malaga and Palermo player, who was born near
Salerno, won out over several candidates including fellow
Italian and former Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi.
He has signed a five year contract with a one-year extension
option.
