Premier Giorgia Meloni on Monday
accepted art critic Vittorio Sgarbi's resignation as culture
undersecretary after Italy's antitrust authority found his
lucrative private conference work to be incompatible with his
government role.
"I find it correct after the antitrust ruling," she said on a
visit to Tokyo.
Sgarbi is also under investigation for alleged misappropriation
of cultural assets in relation to an allegedly stolen painting,
but he did not mention this in his resignation statements at the
weekend.
