In a modern state of law such as
Italy work-related deaths are intolerable said the First
President of the Supreme Court of Cassation Margherita Cassano
on Thursday at the inauguration of the Judicial Year.
Cassano said the number of fatal workplace accidents in the
first 11 months of 2023, albeit down slightly on the previous
year, "remain the expression of a serious social pathology that
urgently needs to be resolved through strong preventive action
focused on the effective reintroduction of serious, effective,
modern and capillary controls".
"In a modern state of law, it is not tolerable that people
should continue to die because of their work," she said.
