Gigi Riva, Italy's record all-time
goalscorer who has died at 79 of a heart attack, "marked the
history of Italian soccer and the national team," Premier
Giorgia Meloni said after the Cag liari great's passing Monday.
"We lose a great sportsman who marked the history of football
and of our national side," she said.
"May the earth lie lightly on you, champ."
Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said: "bon
voyage to heaven, Roar of Thunder", using the nickname coined
for the legend by great sporstwriter Gianni Brera.
