Pope Francis wants to go to Vietnam,
the Vatican's 'foreign minister' Msgr Paul Richard Gallagher
said after Francis met a delegation from the Vietnamese
Communist Party at the Vatican on Thursday.
"The Pope wants to go and the Catholic community there also
wants him to go. It would be a good message for that region",
said Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.
"It was a positive meeting (with the Communist delegation),
relations with the Holy See are growing and we are hopeful that
the Catholic community will benefit.
"We hope to encourage them towards greater religious freedom,"
Gallagher added, announcing, "I will go in April," "then
(Secretary of Stata Cardinal Pietro) Parolin in the course of
the year, we will do things gradually."
