Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri on
Sunday slammed the Italian SuperCup semis and final being played
in lucrative games at Riyadh from Thursday to Sunday, saying it
was a case of "take the money and run".
The Biancocelesti will play their semi-final against Inter on
Friday, a day after Napoli-Fiorentina.
"It is a sign of a league that needs money and seeks it in the
least appropriate ways," said the former Napoli and Chelsea
boss, who said he was a traditionalist.
"The FA Cup final has been played for 120 years at Wembley,"
Sarri told Dazn after a 1-0 win over Lecce at the Olimpico, and
then reiterated the concept in a press conference.
"This is anything but sport, it's 'take the money and run',
myopically. The FA Cup final has been played in the same place
for 120 years. We go begging around the world. With all the
problems, you do the Super Cup in four (teams).
"If that's what modern football is, I'm happy to be old".
