General Francesco Figliuolo, head of
the interforce operational command of the defence chief of
staff, landed in Beirut Wednesday on a mission to meet Italian
troops working in the UN peacekeeping mission UNIFIL and in the
bilateral mission MIBIL.
The troops are stationed in the south of the country.
Figliuolo, 62, is the former COVID-19 vaccine rollout czar in
the former Draghi government.
