Isabella Rossellini on Friday got a
career achievement award at Rome's film fest.
The Italian actress and model, 71, daughter of Swedish actress
Ingrid Bergman and Italian film director Roberto Rossellini,
first gained recognition after her breakthrough role in White
Nights (1985) and again in David Lynch's Blue Velvet (1986) for
which she received the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female
Lead.
Other notable films include Cousins (1989), Wild at Heart
(1990), Death Becomes Her (1992), Fearless (1993), Wyatt Earp
(1994), Big Night (1996), Roger Dodger (2002), Infamous (2006),
Two Lovers (2008), Enemy (2013), Joy (2015), and La chimera
(2023).
The actress told ANSA she was also devoted to her organic farm
and wine production as well as her film directing.
"They are all phases of my life, I started off with a passion
for modelling at the Academy, I wanted to become a costume
designer, than many encounters, even random ones, led me to be
many things, but I know that I ma my complexity and none of
these things on its own is enough to define me".
Rosellini said she was "proud" and "moved" to get the award,
decided by film fest president Gian Luca Farinelli, "whom I've
known for a few years and who restored many of my father's
films, becoming friends with me".
She added "I dedicate this prize to my parents".
Asked if she had any regrets, she said: "I did what I wanted but
I wanted to do more".
The acknowledgment was conferred by TV host, comic and musician
Renzo Arbore and actress and director Alice Rohrwacher during
the Masterclass that the artist held with the audience of the
Fest.
